While the 4A and 5A girls state tournaments are justifiably earning most of the prep basketball spotlight this week, that doesn't mean there isn't anything interesting happen on the boys side as the 5A and 4A tournaments at Weber State next week approach.

On Tuesday night, Jesse Wade poured in 25 of his 32 points in the second half to lead Davis past Layton 55-53. That win gave the Darts the Region 1 championship.

Perhaps the biggest shocker Tuesday came when Pleasant Grove shocked top-ranked Lone Peak 78-71, ending the Knights 35-game home winning streak. Lone Peak will have to win at Riverton Thursday night in the league finale to win the title outright.

Speaking of Riverton, the Silverwolves are desperately battling Herriman for the fourth and final Region 4 spot in the tournament. Riverton hosts Lone Peak Thursday, while Herriman is at Pleasant Grove. That should decide the last 5A tournament spot.

Finally, Bingham isn't exactly roaring into the state tournament. The Miners, who will be the top seed from Region 3, beat Alta 65-63 in overtime Tuesday.

In Class 4A, the big game sees Orem traveling to Olympus Thursday night in the Region 7 finale. The Titans, who lost big at Orem, could tie the Golden Tigers with the victory.
