Three Utah high school cross country runners qualified to participate in the 36th annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships Saturday on a 5,000-meter course in San Diego's Balboa Park.

Sky View's Conner Mantz, Wasatch's Josh Collins and East's Garek Bielaczc finished in the top 10 at the recent western regionals in Walnut Creek, Calif. to qualify.

Mantz finished fifth, Collins eighth and Bielaczc ninth.

No Utah female runners qualified for the nationals, which feature the 80 fastest male and female prep distance runners from across the U.S.

Top Olympians such as Ryan Hall, Meb Keflezighi and Kara Goucher participated in what is one of the most prestigious events in high school distance running.

Grant Fisher of Grand Blanc, Mich., is the top ranked runner in the nation and the defending national champion.
