Two events are being held this week to supply toys, clothes and other household items for people in Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. MST on Wednesday, volunteers are allowing people in need to visit what's called the old Holm Building at the corner of Jessop Avenue and Carling Street in Hildale. There, they will be able to pick out some free toys and other gifts for children and other household items.

Also this week, West Jordan resident Whitney Moulton is collecting items to transport to Hildale. Anyone wishing to donate should email her at whitney.moulton@gmail.com by the end of Friday to make arrangements.

Moulton is collecting toiletries, new underwear, black socks, shoes, coats, winter hats and gloves, women's black leggings, school supplies, bunk beds, wood-burning stoves, gifts for teenage boys and girls ages 13 and up, and holiday stockings filled with gifts for all ages.

Moulton was among about 100 volunteers who traveled to Hildale and Colorado City in October to help with home repairs.

"I didn't expect there to be so much homelessness and such poverty," Moulton said.

Some homes don't even have utilities, she said.

Moulton plans to deliver the goods Saturday to charitable organizations working in Hildale and Colorado City.
