Pac-12 teams are 4-1, with seven more teams making their first appearances Saturday. My picks are 5-0, which is another way of saying there haven't been any upsets.  Saturday's games Rutgers at Washington, noon MDT, Pac-12 Networks This is a meeting of Power 5 schools in name only, in Rutgers' case. If the Huskies are as good as we all think they are, they should roll. Washington 35, Rutgers 17.  UCLA at Texas A&M, 1:30 p.m. MDT, CBS The Bruins' offense struggled in a win at Virginia to open the 2015 season, and this will be a much tougher assignment. But UCLA match up well with an SEC team athletically and quarterback Josh Rosen will make just enough difference for the Bruins. UCLA 31, Texas A&M 28.  UC Davis at Oregon, 3 p.m. MDT, Pac-12 Networks The Ducks warm up for Bronco Mendenhall's visit with his Virginia team next week. Oregon 59, UC Davis 24.  Eastern Washington at Washington State, 6 p.m. MDT, Pac-12 Networks The Cougars should be ready after being knocked off by Portland State last September. Washington State 42, Eastern Washington 28.  Alabama vs. USC (Arlington, Texas), 6 p.m. MDT, ABC In Utah, the big question is whether Cottonwood High School graduate Cooper Bateman will be Alabama's starting quarterback. USC defensive lineman Stevie Tu'ikolovatu also will be interesting ti watch, having transferred from Utah. And Utah State and Utah are two of the Trojans' next three opponents. Alabama 28, USC 17.  BYU vs. Arizona (Glendale, Ariz.), 8:30 p.m. MDT, FS1 I've done the math on former BYU offensive coordinators Robert Anae (two stints) and Brandon Doman, whose first games as play-callers produced a total of three offensive touchdowns against Boston College in 2005, Mississippi in 2011 and Virginia in 2013. Ty Detmer's degree of difficulty is far lower, facing Arizona's defense. BYU 35, Arizona 31.  Northern Arizona at Arizona State, 9 p.m. MDT, Pac-12 Networks NAU is the Big Sky Conference favorite and ASU is picked fifth in the Pac-12 South, so if the Big Sky is going to stage its (almost) annual upset, this is the most logical opportunity. But the Sun Devils should pull away in the end, playing on the other side of the Valley of the Sun from BYU-Arizona. Arizona State 34, Northern Arizona 24. – Kurt Kragthorpe
