Not counting the national championship game, the bowl season runs from today through Jan. 2, and the Pac-12 will be involved from start to finish with 10 teams participating. The conference has a genuine shot at 10-0, always there's always an unpredictable result or two. A look at today's games: Arizona vs. New Mexico, New Mexico Bowl, noon MST, ESPN This is a home game for New Mexico, which adds an interesting dimension. Arizona needed a big rally to overcome Nevada 49-48 in Albuquerque in 2012, Rich Rodriguez's first season as the Wildcats' coach. This matchup comes down to whether Arizona can stop the Lobos' running attack, after struggling against the run in Pac-12 play. But even if the obos move the ball, the Wildcats should be able to outscored them. Arizona 35, New Mexico 28.  Utah vs. BYU, Las Vegas Bowl, 1:30 pm. MST, ABC The Utes have beaten their in-state rivals four straight times, although the most recent meeting was in September 2013. Utah's talent level has increased since then, but this matchup looks fairly even. Emotional factors aside, the biggest variable is how BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum relies on his receivers to make plays on downfield passes. The Cougars have to hit some of those throws, because their offense won't move the ball consistently against Utah's defense. Utah quarterback Travis Wilson has experienced an up-and-down career, but some history works in his favor. One of his best games was against BYU two years ago, and he was the Las Vegas Bowl MVP last December. Utah 24, BYU 17.  – Kurt Kragthorpe
