The six former University of Utah basketball players in the Olympics, playing for four teams and representing three countries, all have advanced to the quarterfinals.  But the father and brother of ex-Ute center Kim Tillie were eliminated from the volleyball tournament Monday night as France lost to Brazil in four games. Laurent Tillie coaches the team and Kevin Tillie is a key player for France, which went 2-3 in preliminary play. Kim Tillie was able to attend three of the matches.  The men's volleyball quarterfinals will be staged Wednesday, with BYU alumnus Taylor Sander and the USA team meeting Poland (11 a.m. MDT).  The women's basketball quarterfinals are Tuesday, with ex-Ute Leilani Mitchell and Australia facing Serbia (8 a.m. MDT) to begin the knockout stage and Kim Smith Gaucher, Shona Thorburn and Michelle Plouffe meeting France (7:15 p.m. MDT) in the day's last game.  Wednesday's men's schedule includes ex-Ute Andrew Bogut and Australia vs. Lithuania (8 a.m. MDT) and Tillie's France team vs. Spain (11:30 a.m. MDT).  – Kurt Kragthorpe
