Rio de Janeiro – Even with all of the athletes with Utah ties in these Games, three international golfers are the ones who most recently competed in Utah before coming to Rio.  Web.com Tour golfers C.T. Pan of Chinese Taipei, Seamus Power of Ireland and Rodolfo Cazaubon of Mexico played in the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank at Thanksgiving Point, which ended July 24.  Pan was the only one of the three to make the cut in Lehi, and he performed the best in Thursday's first round of the 72-hole Olympic golf tournament. The former University of Washington golfer posted a 2-under-par 69 and is tied for 11th place. Power shot a 71 and is tied for 27th. Cazaubon had a 76 and stands 59th among the 60 contestants.  To play in the Olympics, they had to miss the Web.com Tour event in Springfield, Mo. Pan and Power have clinched their top-25 status on the regular-season money list, however, and will advance to the PGA Tour in October.  – Kurt Kragthorpe
