In a move that was expected, the Jazz on Thursday assigned rookie forward Joel Bolomboy to the SLC Stars, their D-League affiliate.

Bolomboy, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Weber State has made two appearances this season, and is averaging 1.5 points per outing.

This could be the first of many moves back and forth between the Jazz and Stars for Bolomboy. When the Stars moved to Salt Lake City — relocating from Boise — one of the biggest advantages was the close proximity to the Jazz.

Bolomboy can potentially play with the Stars on one night, and with the Jazz the next because of this. And while the Jazz want to give their rookie playing time and experience, which should come in the D-League, they want to make sure Bolomboy also plays and practices with the Jazz.

The Stars made an appearance as a team at Wednesday night's game between the Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks. Bolomboy is projected to be a main contributor in his time with the Stars.
