Here's what we know: Dante Exum suffered some sort injury to his left knee while playing in an exhibition for Australia on Tuesday. It happened during the first half of a friendly in Slovenia. It looked pretty bad.

Exum was driving to the basket when, apparently without making contact with another player, something goes awry, he suddenly succumbs to the pain and the ball slips out of his hand.

The 20-year-old Jazzman returned to the Australia bench in the second half, wearing his street clothes, his knee heavily taped.

Jazz officials say the point guard will now return to Salt Lake City for further evaluation by team doctors.

That's what we know for sure right now.

Obviously a non-contact injury like that has the potential to be serious. Then again, you'd only have to go back to the Hawks-Cavs series in May to find an example (former Jazzman DeMarre Carroll) of a non-contact injury that looked bad only to turn out to be a relatively minor injury. You'll also recall that Exum looked to be in serious pain when he sprained his left ankle during Utah's first summer league game last month. He didn't play the rest of the exhibition schedule, but was obviously back in action for Australia by month's end.

Exum will need further evaluation. Until those results are released, we won't know the true extent of the injury.

An serious injury to Exum would undoubtedly be cause for concern for the Jazz. While the point guard provided minimal offense during his rookie campaign, his contributions on defense certainly factored into the Jazz's turnaround and 19-10 mark after the all-star break.
