Utah named one of five places in the world women shouldn't bother visiting

Utah is one of the five worst places women can travel to, if "The New York Post" is to be believed.

The New York newspaper points to Wallet Hub and 24/7 Wall St.'s conclusion that of the 50 states, "Utah is one of the worst when it comes to gender inequality." Wallet Hub declared Utah 49th in gender-based disparity based on 10 metrics, and 24/7 Wall St. concluded that the Beehive State is "the worst state for women," because of its large gender-pay gap, an education gap and underrepresentation of women in government, among other reasons, The New York Post writes.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported on the pay and education gap in 2012, noting then that the education gap in particular is more than double than neighboring Idaho's, and was well above the national average.

The New York Post listed Utah as one of five places where women shouldn't spend their travel dollars. The other four were El Salvador, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
