Directions • From Highway 191, take the Potash Road (Highway 279) and drive about 10 miles south to the trailhead turnoff. The trail is marked at the parking lot.

The trail starts with a slight climb, which will quickly bring hikers above the road and offer a beautiful view of the Colorado River, dotted with campsites. Follow the trail over the railroad tracks and into the mouth of Bootlegger Canyon. The trail then goes over a wide sandy area — hikers should keep their eyes trained on the cairns, though if you get off the trail, it's not difficult to find it again. The trail will then come to a slant with a small drop-off, but a cable assist can help hikers who are unsure of their footing.

The trail then turns to a slick rock area, and hikers can see their first glimpse of the Corona and Bowtie Arches. Continue to follow the trail, and hikers will soon reach another safety cable that will help hikers scramble a steep boulder with footholds chiseled into the rock. After that, hikers will climb up a short steel ladder bolted into another boulder.

As hikers continue along the slickrock trail, they will see Bowtie Arch on the left, and then the trail ends beneath the 140-foot tall Corona Arch.

Admire the arch and its surrounding area, then go back the way you came.
