Directions • From the intersection of Wasatch and Fort Union boulevards, continue south on Wasatch for 9.3 miles. The road will eventually become Little Cottonwood Canyon Road and curve to the east. But at the end of the 9.3 miles, look for the marked parking lot and trailhead on the south side of the road. This is also the trailhead for Red Pine and White Pine lakes.

Maybird Lake offers the beauty of a mountain lake in Little Cottonwood Canyon, but without the traffic you might find at its neighbors, Red Pine and White Pine lakes. That might be because, as of July 4, 2015, there were no signs directing you to Maybird. But the trail is easy to find and follow. From the trailhead, follow the signs toward Red Pine. At about 1.4 miles, you will come to a fork. Follow the signs for Red Pine again. This is also where the trail's elevation gains begin to accelerate. At 3.5 miles, you will come to another fork. This is where you veer from the Red Pine trail. Turn west and walk across the narrow footbridge crossing the creek. Follow this path to Maybird Lake. DestinationMaybird Lake
