Directions • From the Capitol Reef National Park visitors center, take the Scenic Drive south for 6.5 miles. The Old Wagon Trail is marked on the west side of the road.
Hike • The Old Wagon Trail offers views of Golden Throne and the vastness of south central Utah. From the trailhead, follow the well-marked trail to the west. It begins a steady climb that will end on the trail's far side. At the 1.03-mile mark, you will arrive at the junction of the loop. Go clockwise around the loop to have a nice downhill return. The loop's far side is at the 2-mile mark. Stay on the loop, and at 2.4 miles, you will see a sign directing you to a short detour that is a scenic point. Finish the loop and follow the trail back to the trailhead.
