Directions • Park in the Natural History Museum of Utah lot and follow the Bonneville Shoreline Trail where it picks up on the south side of the building. The trail will soon fork left, slanting uphill, and right, slanting downhill. Follow the left fork and stay on the main path until you reach a fence with an open gate. You'll see This is the Place Heritage Park downhill from you, and from here on, you'll be able to enjoy some nice views of the Salt Lake Valley.

Proceed through the gate and head right. Don't leave the trial, or you could be cited. As the path slopes downhill, keep right at the first fork. Once you reach the bottom, go left, and keep left at the next fork to go back uphill. Follow the path east as it takes you through a U-turn that goes back downhill and curves, leading you to what seems like a three-way fork. Go left and follow that path uphill until you reach the trail that runs straight east and west — and head west back to the fence.

As you head west to complete the loop, the path will take some steep dips that seem more intended for cyclists than people — and on that note, keep your eyes open for the two-wheelers. Once you reach the fence, retrace your steps until you're back at the museum parking lot.
