With the snow almost gone from Utah's mountains, ski areas are moving from winter to summer recreation.

That includes lift-served mountain biking, deals on lodging, music festivals, hiking and special events.

Opening dates for summer events include Alta Lodge on June 4; Beaver Mountain, now through October; Brian Head, June 23 through Sept. 10 and then reopening Sept. 16 for Rocktober; Cherry Peak, June 17; Deer Valley, June 16 through Sept. 4 plus weekends until Sept. 17; Eagle Point, June 17; Park City Mountain base, May 26 through Oct. 1; Canyons Village, June 16 through Sept. 4 daily and Sept. 5 through Oct. 1 on weekends; Snowbasin, June 10 through Oct. 8; Snowbird, June 10 through Oct. 15; Solitude, June 16 through Oct.1; and Sundance, May 19 through Oct. 8.

Highlights include Park City Mountain offering an alpine coaster traveling nearly 4,000 feet, zip lines, tubing and kids rides. Snowbasin is offering free family-friendly movies on Monday evenings starting June 26 on the lawn, with dining available. Snowbasin is also offering themed dinners.

Nordic Valley has a 400-foot slip-'n'slide and disc golf. Snowbird has rides at its base, nature hikes and an alpine slide.

Many resorts offer lift-served mountain biking and special food and dining options during the summer.

Sundance will provide guided fly-fishing trips on the Provo and Weber Rivers.

Music events are scheduled at Deer Valley, Sundance, Beaver Mountain, Park City Mountain, Snowbasin, Cherry Peak, Eagle Point and Snowbird.

Major summer festivals include the Utah Olympic Park's Slip'n'Soar parties June 24, July 4 and Aug. 19; Park City's Food and Wine Classic on July 6-9; Brian Head's car show July 21-23; the National Ability Center's Summit Challenge on Aug. 26; the Moab Music Festival Aug. 31 through Sept. 11; and Utah Symphony summer concerts at various locations.
