Good news for wildlife watchers.
After weather and flooding closed the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge's 12-mile Auto Tour Loop and the road leading into the loop, both are again open.
West Forest Street, located two miles west of Interstate 15, opened Tuesday after being closed due to flooding.
While both are open, refuge officials say it will be a good idea to call 435-723-5887 or visit www.fws.gov/refuge/bear_river_migratory_bird_refuge to check on conditions before setting out for an excursion.
This is a good time to see birds that are beginning their migrations. Tundra swans, for example, will soon be coming in by the thousands. The refuge will be hosting Swan Day on March 11 with tours, a photo workshop and guided wildlife observations among other activities.
