If there is such a thing as a quiet season at Zion National Park, it occurs in December, January and February.

That means that during much of that time, the park's shuttle will not be in service.

Visitors will be able to drive and park in Zion Canyon itself with access to such popular hiking trails as Angels Landing, the Emerald Pools and the Gateway to the Narrows.

The shuttles will operate the next two weekends. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, they will also operate on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They will leave frequently from the viusitor center to the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m .

The park reports that the shuttles will run until 10 p.m. to Zion Lodge to accommodate dinner guests, but not proceed beyond the lodge after 6:45 p.m.

The shuttle service from Springdale closed October 31, but will also be in service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Starting on November 27, shuttles will stop running for the season and private vehicles will be allowed to drive into the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.
