Having attended the SHOT Show in Las Vegas the past few years that features hunting and firearms companies, I've always been impressed at the number of Utah companies involved in that industry.

But, though Outdoor Retailer is the smaller of the two trade shows, Utah has even more companies represented at the Summer Market Show, which runs through Saturday at the Salt Palace.

According to a list provided by the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development, there are 55 Utah companies showing products.

A number of new companies are making their debuts while well-established mainstays such as Altra Running, Nena and Co., Liberty Mountain, Black Diamond, Campfire Meals, Camp Chef, Cotpaxi, Chapul, Chums and Goal Zero have joined a number of companies making their debuts.

Black Diamond is showcasing rechargeable lights. Petzl is showing a new device adding safety to climbing belay devices. And Roamproof is breaking into the outdoor audio market with durable, audiophile quality speakers.
