Those looking to get out and enjoy what appears to be a glorious fall Saturday should have plenty of options.

First off, Saturday is National Public Lands Day. That means entrance to all of Utah National Park Service units is free. That could mean a quick trip up to Golden Spike or a longer adventure to Arches or Zion.

Those near the Utah-Arizona border might want to witness the release of three previously-captive California condors into the wild Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument on the Utah-Arizona border. This is also part of the National Public Lands Day celebration.

To reach the site, drive to Kanab and then take the signs to U.S. 89A, which is the road to Jacob Lake, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Marble Canyon. Turn onto the House Rock Valley Road (BLM Road 1065) and travel about three miles to a shaded viewing area on the right. Spotting scopes will be available and participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. The release will be one mile from the viewing point.

Closer to home, the American Cancer Society and Camp Bow Wow are hosting its Bark for Life event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wheeler Farm. The event includes a walk to raise money for cancer research, giveaways and prizes, raffles, silent auction, music, games, a costume contest and vendors.
