One of the most independent recording artists working today — Ani DiFranco — is coming to Utah.

DiFranco, the outspoken folk/rock musician and activist, will perform Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main, Salt Lake City.

"Where are my sisters? Where are my brothers? Where is my family who takes care of each other?" DiFranco asks in "Binary," the title track of her latest album, which came out Friday.

"Binary" is the 20th studio album DiFranco has released, all of them on her own label, Righteous Babe Records, which she founded in 1989 when she was 18.

The songs on "Binary" — notably the first single, "Play God" — reflect the social consciousness and political activism that have marked DiFranco's career.

Tickets for DiFranco's show at the Eccles go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., at the ArtSaltLake website. Priority ticketing starts Wednesday at 10 a.m.
