Utahns didn't just wake up to snow on the ground Thursday morning. They also were greeted by Christmas music on the radio.

Salt Lake City radio station KSFI-FM, better known as FM100.3, put away the pop hits Thursday to start its traditional playlist of holiday songs.

In past years, other stations have started the Christmas music avalanche as soon as the Halloween trick-or-treaters went to bed — while FM100.3 held back a week or two.

This year, though, no other stations have stepped up, and FM100.3 has the field to itself. The station even held a contest, giving $500 to the person who correctly guessed when the station would start playing Christmas music.
