Six artists will soon be getting elbows-deep in candy, creating the centerpieces for the traditional holiday window displays at Macy's City Creek.

The tradition goes back to 1972, back when the Macy's in downtown Salt Lake City was still the ZCMI store. Macy's revived the tradition when the City Creek shopping center opened in 2012.

This year's windows are scheduled to be unveiled Thursday, Nov. 17, a week before Thanksgiving.

Here are the artists selected to create this year's candy windows:

• Zach Albrecht, a graphic designer, painter and sculptor who earned his BFA at BYU and is now studying interior design at The Art Institute. He was one of the artists who created a candy window last year.

• Matt Marcusatio, a graphic designer, photographer and artist who was one of last year's candy window creators.

• Pamela Layton McMurtry, an artist, author and parent of seven. She created a Santa-themed ornament for the candy windows in 2013. One of her great-grandfathers, Christopher Layton, was president of ZCMI when the store moved into the Main Street location.

• Jeff Rollo, a freelance web designer and self-described "culinary architect," who also is a tenor with the Original Dickens Carolers of Utah.

• Rachel and Rebekah Smith, a sister duo from Portland, Ore., who both graduated from Brigham Young University's graphic design program. Both are graphic designers; Rachel is also a silversmith in Salt Lake City.

• Kathy Tran, a senior at the University of Utah, majoring in multidisciplinary design, who also has volunteered at the Utah Foster Care Chalk Art Festival, Olympic Oval and Downtown Garden Stroll.
