• The grand opening performance of the new Eccles Theater takes place tonight at the theater, 111 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. On the bill: Broadway stars Brian Stokes Mitchell and Megan Hilty, with legendary actor/singer Rita Moreno as emcee and Utah composer Kurt Bestor as music director. Also on the bill: Performers from Ballet West, the University of Utah Department of Theatre, and a joint performance piece from Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and Repertory Dance Theatre. • The Utah Symphony performs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with soloist Andrey Gugnin, tonight and Saturday at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City.
