Starting this month, Utah children can learn science with the help of one of PBS Kids' more popular characters.

"Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit!", a touring interactive museum show, will open Saturday, Sept. 24, at Discovery Gateway Children's Museum, 444 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City.

The exhibit will allow children to discover and investigate everyday science questions — including use of simple machines, the laws of motion, magnetism, air power and the senses — at Sid's home, his school (which houses the Super Fun Lab) and on the playground.

The exhibit was created by The Magic House, the children's museum in St. Louis, in collaboration with The Jim Henson Company — which produces the award-winning "Sid the Science Kid" TV series for PBS Kids.

The public will get its first chance to interact with the exhibit at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. It will stay at Discovery Gateway through Jan. 16.

The museum will provide an early look at the exhibit, with a "Breakfast Time with Sid the Science Kid" event on Saturday, Sept. 24, 9-11 a.m. The event will include breakfast, a "super-duper" science show, photos and activities with Sid, and exclusive playtime in the exhibit. Tickets to the breakfast are $16.50 per person, or $7 each for museum members. Go to the museum's website to make online reservations, or call 801-456-5437.
