Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• The internet exploded Sunday night when Kim Kardashian West posted a recording of her husband, rapper Kanye West, on the phone with singer Taylor Swift — in which Swift apparently gave West the OK to mention her in his song "Famous." The bombshell brought a quick denial from Swift and speculation that the recording might be illegal, while also sucking in celebrity friends Selena Gomez and Chloe Grace Moretz. • "Ghostbusters" had a good-but-not-spectacular opening weekend, with $46 million — coming in second to the second weekend of "The Secret Life of Pets." [Box Office Mojo]

• The Republican National Convention starts today — and to commemorate this historic occasion, may we present a 1999 op-ed by Donald Trump's vice-presidential pick, Mike Pence, in which he decries Disney's "Mulan" as liberal propaganda. Seriously. [Buzzfeed]
