The FM dial, like nature, abhors a vacuum — so if a frequency goes empty, it won't take long to fill it.

Less than a month after Broadway Media Group moved Mix 107.9 to the more powerful signal at 105.1 — and appropriately renamed it Mix 105.1 — the old 107.9 frequency relaunched Monday with a new name: 107.9 The Mountain.

According to the industry blog Radio Insight, The Mountain, call letters KUMT, is now operated by Community Wireless of Park City, which also owns public-radio station KPCW in Park City. The Mountain is being overseen by Mike Summers, who has previously worked at KXRK (X96) and KENZ (formerly "The End").

The format for The Mountain is "non-commercial AAA," or adult album alternative — which means a mix of '80s, '90s and more recent pop-rock hits. Dipping into the station the first day, one could hear a mix of Mumford and Sons, Queen & David Bowie, Simple Minds, U2 and Of Monsters and Men.
