The man who led the drive for Ballet West's new home will now lead fundraising at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

Johann Jacobs, former executive director of Ballet West, is UMFA's new director of development, the museum announced Monday.

In a statement, UMFA Executive Director Gretchen Dietrich said Jacobs is "very skilled at cultivating and sustaining relationships across business, government and arts communities."

Jacobs has 30 years' experience in the nonprofit world, including 17 years running Ballet West, from which he resigned in December 2012. Among his accomplishments there was the $16.5 million capital campaign to build the ballet troupe's new permanent home, the Jessie Eccles Quinney Centre for Dance (next door to Capitol Theatre).

UMFA's main location, in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building on the University of Utah campus, is closed this year for remodeling. It will reopen in 2017.
