This week's Utah Crowd-Funding Project is to help a major voice in the state's musical life.

"Bad" Brad Wheeler is an icon in Utah's musical scene, both as a musician and as host of KRCL's weekday afternoon rock show "Little Bit Louder Now."

Wheeler is now recuperating from surgery from his knee to his ankle, after his leg was pinned between two cars on April 3. Wheeler lost a lot of blood in the accident, and he says (in a note to his fans) that it was touch-and-go for a bit.

Wheeler has health insurance, and auto coverage for the accident. Still, home health costs are rising quickly, and friends of Wheeler are banding together to help him defray those expenses.

Those friends have started a crowd-funding campaign on GoFundMe, seeking $20,000 to help Wheeler. The campaign started on Sunday, and already has raised $6,158 toward the goal.

In a note from the hospital, Wheeler wrote to his friends and fans: "I'm completely overwhelmed with the amount of love and concern that everyone has bestowed on me."
