A little bit of the Sundance Film Festival is returning to Los Angeles in August.

The Sundance Institute will stage Next Fest, a weekend summer version of the Park City event, Aug. 12-14 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles.

This is the fourth time for Next Fest, which "celebrates the renegade spirit of independent artists."

Six independent films will have their L.A. premieres at Next Fest, each paired with a music act, live performance or conversation with an icon of independent cinema.

The line-up will be announced this summer, when tickets go on sale. (Tickets will range from $15 to $25.)

New to Next Fest will be "Next Door," a free entertainment venue, and a short film program. Also, the festival will be preceded by "Night Before Next" on Aug. 11, a benefit gala spotlighting an indie filmmaker to watch. Past recipients have included Ryan Coogler ("Fruitvale Station"), Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild"), Marielle Heller ("The Diary of a Teenage Girl") and Damien Chazelle ("Whiplash"). Tickets for the gala are $150 and up.
