Once he was trapped in a closet, and now he's serving up a buffet — and he's coming to Utah.

Superstar R&B singer/songwriter/producer R. Kelly is going on a 15-city tour this spring, including a stop at West Valley City's Maverik Center on Wednesday, May 11.

Since his solo debut in 1993, Kelly has been responsible for such hits as "Bump 'n' Grind," "You Remind Me of Something," "I Believe I Can Fly" (from the movie "Space Jam"), and his video epic "Trapped in the Closet."

Kelly has sold 40 million albums worldwide over his career, while amassing a shelf of trophies that includes three Grammys, six American Music Awards and eight Soul Train Awards. In addition to his own music, Kelly has collaborated with such artists as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and Celine Dion, among others.

Kelly's 13th solo album, "The Buffet," was released in December, and has yielded the singles "Backyard Party" and "Marching Band."

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at Smith's Tix.
