Night Vale, the desert town where strange things happen with regularity, will materialize briefly in Salt Lake City this summer.

The touring show of the popular podcast "Welcome to Night Vale," which sounds like a radio news report from the Twilight Zone, will land at Salt Lake City's Capitol Theatre on Monday, July 18.

Creators Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor launched the podcast in 2012, taking the style of old-school radio drama in the format of a community radio show with a host, Cecil Palmer (played by Cecil Baldwin), who serves as narrator of the macabre stories.

This year's tour (presented in two legs, in April and in July) will be the fifth original script the show's troupe has performed live. A live musical score is provided by Disparition, and folk-rock multi-instrumentalist Erin McKeown will be the musical guest for the July dates.

Tickets for the Capitol Theatre show go on sale Friday at noon, via ArtTix.
