• Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, issued a statement promising "dramatic steps" to diversify its membership — after a second straight year when no actors of color were nominated for the Oscars. • "Ride Along 2" gets the title of being the movie that knocked "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" off the No. 1 spot at the box office — taking in $41.5 million on the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. [Box Office Mojo]

• Glenn Frey, a founding member of The Eagles and the voice on such songs as "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Tequila Sunrise," "Take It Easy" and many others, has died at the age of 67. Frey also had such solo hits as "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City." [BBC News]
