This week's Utah Crowd-Funding Project is helping a musician fulfill a dream.

Salt Lake City musician Danny Heslop has been performing for 15 years — at weddings, clubs, backyard barbecues, "wherever I can play." He's a singer-songwriter-guitarist, gearing up to record his first EP.

"The passion's there, the music's been written," Heslop said in a video message.

What isn't there is money, so Heslop has launched a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter to pay for musicians, studio time, mixing and mastering, and manufacturing and distributing CDs.

Heslop aims to raise $5,000 on his Kickstarter campaign. So far, he has received $845 in pledges. The deadline is Oct. 22.

Benefits for backers range from a digital download of the EP (for $20), to a private concert and a guitar lesson (for $3,000).
