Don't expect to hear from Donny Osmond for the next three weeks.

The Utah-born entertainer had vocal cord surgery on Tuesday, to remove a hemorrhagic polyp. The operation, Osmond told People magazine via email, was a "complete success."

"It took an hour to complete the procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital," Osmond wrote. "Now, it's pure silence for three weeks. Not even a whisper or whistle."

Osmond will begin rehab on Sept. 1, and should be back on stage with his sister Marie in Las Vegas on Sept. 29. Osmond had to cancel several solo concerts, including a Sept. 3 concert in Layton, because of his recovery.

The operation was performed by Dr. Steven M. Zeitels, from Harvard's medical school, who has done the same operation on Adele, Sam Smith and John Mayer.
