A tough-minded documentary and an inspiring drama from India were most popular with audiences at the Damn! These Heels LGBT Film Festival.

Audience Awards for the festival, which ran this weekend at Salt Lake City's Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, were:

• The documentary "Out in the Night," which chronicles the case of four African-American lesbians who were violently attacked by a man in a subway station — and then charged with attempted murder when they fought back.

• "Margarita, With a Straw," a drama about a woman with cerebral palsy who leaves India to study in New York — and finds unexpected love there.
