It's time for Utah artists to be thinking about Christmas and candy.

The Macy's store at Salt Lake City's City Creek Center, 21 S. Main St., is once again putting out the call for artists to submit designs for its candy-filled Christmas windows — a holiday tradition that goes back to the store's days as ZCMI. (Take a look at this gallery of last year's windows.)

Six artists will be chosen to design and create a giant holiday ornament made entirely of candy. The artist must create and install the candy creation. Macy's will provide the materials — starting with a 42-inch wide Styrofoam ball — and promote the artists' bio and website.

Artists are asked to submit a rendering and brief description of their design, a brief description of their artistic background, and a short essay about why they want to be involved in the candy window project. Entries will be judged on feasibility and theme.

The six selected artists will install their works from Nov. 2 to Nov. 18. The windows will be on display Nov. 19 to Jan. 2.

Deadline for entries is Aug. 1. Send entries to Chad Young at Macy's: Chad.young@macys.com.
