The first glimpse of this summer's Twilight Concert Series line-up has been revealed, with alt-rock band Death Cab for Cutie opening the series on Thursday, July 16, at Pioneer Park in downtown Salt Lake City.

Death Cab for Cutie was founded in 1997 by guitarist/pianist/vocalist Ben Gibbard, in Bellingham, Wash. (up the coast from Seattle, almost to the Canadian border). The band's eighth album, "Kintsugi," was released last week, and includes the single "Black Sun." (Watch the video for "Black Sun" above.)

Opening the show is tUnE-yArDs, the worldbeat/indie-pop duo of Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner. Their new album arrives May 6.

Tickets for the Death Cab for Cutie show are $5, at 24Tix.

Season passes for the Twilight Concert Series — which will run on successive Thursdays from July 16 to August 27 — are available now via 24Tix, at $30 for the seven shows. The full line-up will be announced Tuesday, April 21, which is also when the price of the season pass goes up to $35.
