This week's Utah Crowd-Funding Project wants to put a grill on wheels.

Salt Lake City entrepreneur Nick Ferrin is creating Freestyle Foodie, a food truck that claims to be the first traditional Mongolian grill barbecue on wheels. (If you're not familiar with Mongolian barbecue, it's where the customer loads up a bowl with veggies, protein, noodles and whatnot, and then a chef cooks it to order on a massive grill.)

So far, Ferrin has raised a good chunk of money via personal and family resources, and a loan from the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund. But he's looking for $10,000 more via crowd-funding to get his dream to reality.

The campaign on Kickstarter has raised $6,341 in pledges so far, with a deadline of March 29 — that's this Sunday, folks.

Benefits for backers range from a bumper sticker (for $10) to putting your sponsorship logo on the back of the truck and getting catering for 500 people (for $8,000). One of the bargain benefits: For $250, Ferrin will dedicate a day's profits from the truck to the charity of your choice.

If you have a crowd-funding project you'd like mentioned on The Cricket blog, email it to: spmeans@sltrib.com. Be sure to put "crowd funding" in the subject line.
