Why does BYU hold events for fans around the country to interact with Cougar coaches and athletes?
Saturday's FanFest in southern Nevada probably answered that question as much as anything else.
BYU football coach Kalani Sitake attended the event and hit the jackpot in recruiting at the same time. He got a commitment from Allan Mwata, a 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back from Henderson, Nev.
Mwata, a three-star recruit according to several recruiting websites, plays at the same high school that produced outgoing BYU safety Kai Nacua, Liberty High School.
"Blessed and proud to announce that I am committed to Brigham Young University!" Mwata tweeted Saturday evening shortly after the Cougars concluded their BYU FanFest event in North Las Vegas.
