Jimmer Fredette, in his time with the Shanghai Sharks, has earned what might be construed in the U.S. as a mean-spirited nickname.

Stateside, "Jimo Dashen" or "The Lonely Master" might conjure up images of Fredette's struggles to make his name in the NBA and a lonely existence plying his trade across the world — but in China, it's an honor for the former BYU star.

"It more means like you're kind of on top and no one is around you," Jimmer says in the "Outside the Lines" video.

The feature also details Fredette's rise from Glens Falls, New York to "Jimmermania" at BYU to his selection as the 10th pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

"When he was five years old, he could make a high school three-pointer," Alfred Fredette, Jimmer's dad, says in the video.

Fredette dropped 73 points in a Chinese Basketball Association game in February and is the league's leading scorer with 37.6 points per game.

"I didn't necessarily think of playing in China, [but] it's turned out really well," Fredette says. Watch the whole video above.
