BYU's 2017 football schedule was finalized Thursday with the announcement that October's game against Boise State at LaVell Edwards Stadium has been moved up a day.

The game will be moved from Saturday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Oct. 6, and will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MT. It will be televised by ESPN.

It will be BYU's second-straight game on a Friday, because it will play at Utah State on Sept. 29, the day before the LDS Church's General Conference.

Those are the only two non-Saturday games on this year's BYU football schedule.

The schedule features 13 games — six at home, six on the road and one at a "neutral site" — Houston's NRG Stadium against LSU in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff.

The 2017 schedule is listed below.

Meanwhile, the Cougars are in the first week of spring camp. Here's a look at the running back situation and why safety Matt Hadley was asked to give carrying the ball a try — instead of intercepting it — in spring camp.

Wednesday, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe spent 45 minutes with reporters in a Q&A session about BYU sports.

Many of the questions were football-specific. Here are three of Holmoe's answers to football-related questions.

On the series with Notre Dame and whether anything new has developed about the Irish owing the Cougars a game in Provo after BYU visited South Bend in 2012 and 2013:

"No, not yet. I mean, this is something that Notre Dame eventually will have to decide how they want to do that," Holmoe said. "So right now, as I talk to people. Some people are frustrated that nothing is happening, BYU fans. But to me, I am going to say, somewhere down the road if they come play in Provo, that would be a good thing. Because they owe us a game in Provo. Or, if they don't want to play, it will be a good payday. So both of those things are good things. I am not going to worry about it right now."

On what he would say to people who want LaVell Edwards Stadium expanded and whether it is a crazy idea:

"I think it is a great idea. I don't know if it is practical. But I think it is a great idea. Practically, right now we don't sell out. So it would be silly to put in 20,000 more seats. Because the 20,000 more seats you put in would be in the corner if they are going to do that.

If you want to put an upper deck on, that would be great. I can picture an upper deck. Probably not in my administration. But I could picture that. It looks great.

But the big thing right now thought is not necessarily seats. It is hospitality. I think that those are the things that we are turning our attention to, is hospitality and making it really a place where… It used to be it was all about the game. Now people come for social, hospitality. They come to see things other than the game, including our students.

I am really proud of our students, because around the country the student attendance drops off like crazy, and ours is strong.

That might sound like I am throwing a plug for our students, but it is really a feather in their cap that when everyone else is going down. Not everyone. Ours is going up.

That is a sign that they love the college experience. I don't care if they come to the game and just tweet back and forth with the person next to them. I don't get it.

But I think it is great that they are there.

On whether they will televise the Spring Game in football:

"It is something that we talk about every year. For various reasons in the past, coaches haven't want to do. … We don't have a lot of personnel in our spring, for a game. I get that. A couple years ago, we had one healthy running back for a week. You can't practice, let alone play a game. Our coaches are concerned about that. But with our relationship with BYUtv sports, we will figure something out. We will do something. We gotta just figure it out."

On football coach Kalani Sitake and his impact:

'He is great. I think he has brought a spark of life to some people that weren't involved. One of the things I see is there are a lot of people who weren't really involved in BYU football that are now. I think we had a great program for many years. There is a transition. You are always nervous for transitions. He brings things to the table that are unique to his personality and his skills and it was a really good first year. I think he is extraordinarily honest, so I really know how he feels about things and we have good discussions and talks about personnel and situations. He is a humble guy, so he comes out with it and you kinda know where he stands."
