It appears that Squally Canada, Riley Burt and KJ Hall will have some competition to be BYU's starting running back next season.

On Saturday, the Cougars received a commitment from former East High running back Ula Tolutau, a one-time Wisconsin commit.

Tolutau is back from an LDS Church mission and re-opened his recruitment because the coach he pledged to at Wisconsin, Gary Andersen, is no longer with the program. Andersen is the head coach at Oregon State.

Tolutau announced on Facebook that he chose BYU over Utah State, Hawaii and several other admirers.

"This is more than a big addition. He's a SPECIAL addition," East High coach Brandon Matich wrote on Twitter. "Incredible player and person. Will create a lifetime legacy!"

Tolutau rushed for 2,465 yards and 31 touchdowns his senior season at East when the Leopards made it to the 2013 4A championship game before falling to Timpview.
