A public memorial service for Elsie Mahe, the 3-year-old daughter of BYU running backs coach Reno Mahe and former BYU volleyball star Sunny Tonga Mahe, will be held Friday, Dec. 9 from 6-9 p.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center (room 155) in Salt Lake City.

Elsie's parents announced the service on their GoFundMe page on Tuesday afternoon.

A private service for close friends and family will be held on Saturday.

"We had felt prompted to accommodate as many people as possible to come and celebrate Elsie's life and feel of her spirit," Sunny Mahe wrote. "But we couldn't bear the thought of having people wait out in the cold or be so crowded that the event seemed chaotic."

Guests are invited to park, free of charge, in the west convention center parking lot, which is across the street from Vivint Home Smart Arena.

Elsie Mahe passed away last week after an in-home accident involving the cords from a window blind. Her organs were donated to needy recipients shortly after she was taken off life support.
