Tanner Mangum, the quarterback who rescued BYU's football season in 2015 when Taysom Hill went down in the season-opener with a foot injury, is no longer one of Provo's most eligible bachelors.

Mangum announced Friday morning via Twitter that he made a marriage proposal to BYU women's volleyball star Alexa Gray, and that Gray accepted.

Mangum was named a freshman All-American in football and Gray was named an AVCA All-American last fall and was also the West Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Mangum apparently proposed on the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

"Many good things have happened on this field, but none as special as asking this girl to marry me!," Mangum wrote, and included a picture of him on one knee making the proposal. "We're engaged."

Gray, who is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is the daughter of former UNLV basketball star Evric Gray, later confirmed the engagement on Instagram.

For those unfamiliar with the inspirational story of how Gray recovered from the untimely death of her mother while a youngster, check out this story from 2014.

The couple has not announced when the marriage will take place; Gray has completed her volleyball eligibility, while Mangum will be a sophomore this fall. He and the Cougars begin spring camp practices on Tuesday.
