The Wisconsin Badgers are making their first trip to Provo sooner than originally believed.

BYU announced via its football Twitter account that the Wisconsin-at-BYU football game previously scheduled for 2019 has been moved to 2018.

The Cougars will host the Badgers on Sept. 16, 2017 (instead of Aug. 29, 2019).

During media day in June, BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall told reporters that if they think the 2015 schedule is loaded, they should wait until 2017. He probably had this switch in mind.

BYU starts the season against LSU in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff Classic at NRG Stadium in Houston, then plays host to Utah on Sept. 9 and the Badgers on the 16th.

Right now, Sept. 23 is open before the Cougars play a Friday night before General Conference game at Utah State. They are also scheduled to play Boise State, Mississippi State and East Carolina in 2017.

UNLV's web site says the Rebels will host BYU on Nov. 11, 2017, but BYU's future schedule page does not.

BYU will return the game to Wisconsin in 2018 (on Sept. 15, which should be a lot warmer than the 2013 trip to Madison, a 27-17 loss on Nov. 9).
