On a day when the withdrawal from school of BYU football star Jamaal Williams became the big news, BYU also passed along some tidbits regarding the 2015-16 men's basketball season.

Most notably, the bracket for the 2015 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic was officially released, and BYU will open the tournament against Harvard on Dec. 22 at 11:30 a.m. HST. The game will be televised by ESNPU.

The Cougars will also play on Dec. 23 and Dec. 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The winner of the Auburn-New Mexico game will take on the winner of the BYU-Harvard game on Dec. 23.

It will be just the second meeting between BYU and Harvard on the hardwoods. BYU won the first meeting 113-72 on Dec. 21 in Provo.

Also Thursday, BYU announced it has signed 6-foot-4 guard Elijah Bryant, whose commitment to the Cougars was detailed last week.

Bryant, the 2014-15 Colonial Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, will sit out the 2015-16 season and have three years of eligibility remaining.

"Elijah is a great player that will come to BYU with a tremendous amount of experience," BYU coach Dave Rose said. "He is very skilled, and his strengths compliment our strengths.  We look forward to having Elijah in our program."

Bryant was also named to the All-CAA Third Team, the only freshman to earn all-league honors. He was also named Elon's team MVP.

Bryant prepped at New Hampton School in New Hampshire.
