BYU basketball coach Dave Rose held his annual end-of-season basketball banquet on Tuesday night at Nu-Skin headquarters in downtown Provo to honor the 2014-15 team and especially outgoing seniors Tyler Haws, Josh Sharp, Skyler Halford and Anson Winder.

All four seniors spoke briefly after receiving their awards, which included their framed jerseys, and each spoke fondly of their time at BYU and expressed gratitude to the coaching staff, their teammates and families.

Props to Rose's administrative assistant (I'm not sure of her exact title) Aubrey Reeves and her staff for putting on an excellent event/tribute for a team that was as resilient in the face of adversity of any BYU team I've covered in seven years on the beat.

Every player except Frank Bartley IV was in attendance at the gathering; Master of ceremonies Greg Wrubell said Bartley was absent because he had to take a test.

Interestingly, I suppose, assistant coach Mark Pope and director of basketball operations Cody Fueger did not attend, although their was a table reserved for them. Of course, both men are now ticketed to coach at Utah Valley University.

As is customary, some individual awards were presented at the banquet.

The outstanding player award was shared this year by Haws and Kyle Collinsworth, so it became the co-outstanding player award.

Haws was there with his fiance' — BYU gymnast Summer Raymond, gave her a "shout-out" during his speech, and acknowledged beforehand that he proposed to the Alta High graduate at the Marriott Center on Monday night. I guess some folks at the MC were setting up for an event and made the proposal special by adding lighting and a sign that said "Yes!" as background.

Collinsworth was there with his fiancĂ©' — BYU track star Shea Martinez — and noted that at last year's banquet he was on crutches and/or a scooter and could barely move. He's come a long way, obviously.
