Republican candidate wins election, apologizes for allegedly assaulting reporter. Chaffetz doubles down on FBI records request. New centrist party plans to launch campaign for Chaffetz's seat.

Happy Friday. Republican candidate Greg Gianforte won Montana's special election — one day after he was charged with assaulting a journalist. "I shouldn't have treated that reporter that way," he said at a rally. Gianforte allegedly "body-slammed" The Guardian's Ben Jacobs, who asked the businessman about the GOP health care plan. "I'm sick and tired of you guys!" Gianforte can be heard saying in a recording of the incident. [WaPost]
