American Fork senior Taylor Moeaki helped lead the Cavemen to the Class 5A girls' basketball state title last month.

She was rewarded for her efforts when she was named Utah's Gatorade Girls' Basketball Player of the Year this week.

She averaged 18.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals for American Fork, which finished 25-1.

"Moeaki is always fearless and confident," Riverton coach Ron Ence said in a release. "She can drive and finish or pull up or set her feet for a 3-point shot, and she's accurate from every distance. She's also a good, solid defender who anticipates well."

Moeaki plans to play at Dixie State next season.
