Oh, what the heck: Here's a third "Trailer of the Day" for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival — a peek at a documentary series about why things look like they do.

"Abstract: The Art of Design" — a series debuting Feb. 10 on Netflix — profiles designers, illustrators and artists about the work they do, whether it's designing cars, athletic shoes, buildings, furniture or stage sets.

"What's important is the story, the message, the feeling, the connection. It's design," says the photographer Platon, one of the subjects profiled in the series.

The series is directed by Morgan Neville, whose documentary "20 Feet From Stardom" opened the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and won an Academy Award as Best Documentary Feature.

One episode of "Abstract: The Art of Design" will screen as part of the Docuseries Showcase in the festival's Special Events section. (It shares the program with an episode of Rashida Jones' series "Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On.") The showcase will happen at the following times and venues:

• Saturday, Jan. 21, 5:30 p.m., Egyptian Theatre, Park City.

• Wednesday, Jan. 25, 6 p.m., Salt Lake City Library Theatre.

The 2017 Sundance Film Festival runs Jan. 19-29 in Park City and at venues in Salt Lake City and the Sundance resort in Provo Canyon.
